Wilmington Girls Grammar school is celebrating some fantastic GCSE results.  This is a year group who have had to overcome a huge number of challenges in their educational journey, yet despite this they have achieved really excellent results, with a particularly high number of grades at 8 and 9. Michelle Lawson, Headteacher said, “  I am particularly proud of this year group who have dealt with all of the challenges in their educational journey, from a lack of their final year in Primary and limited transition to a range of personal and health issues as a result of the pandemic. They have achieved their aspirational targets and this year’s outstanding results are truly reflective of a determined and committed year group.  As I move onto my new role and step away from being Headteacher at WGSG I do so with a real sense of pride in all that the students and staff have achieved this year.’

The proportion of grade 8 and 9 is significantly above the target grade with over 50% at grade 7 or above. We have some truly outstanding performances from Zara Mannio with all Grade 9’s, Gabriella Giovanelli with all Grade 9 & 8 and Unayzatul Mushtaha, Yeshvita Yalarathi and Siham Albassam with the majority of Grades at 9 and 8. We look forward to their next steps as the majority continue into WG6. Mr Fuller, the new HeadTeacher of WGSG commented that ‘Well done to the class of 2025! I admire the cohort for their hard work and determination this year and am really looking forward to working with the majority of the students as they return to WG6. The impact of all the hard work of both students and staff has resulted in students achieving their grades and being able to access the next stage of their educational journey. Thank you to the staff for their hard work and support’

Emily Pyne who gained seven 9s and four 8s added “I’m really pleased with my results and that all my hard work has paid off! Thank you to all of my friends, family, and teachers for supporting me through this journey to get results I’m so proud of”
