At Wilmington Grammar School for Girls we are immensely proud of our students – who combine academic ambition with creativity, compassion and a strong sense of purpose. Our school tradition is rooted in excellence, but equally in opportunity: we aim not only to challenge our students intellectually, but also to nurture their confidence, resilience and curiosity about the wider world.

Our School Blog will offer you a window into daily life at our school where we can share the many achievements, stories and experiences that make our community so special. From classroom innovations and student-led projects, to sporting triumphs, artistic showcases and reflections on school events, it will celebrate the richness of our community and highlight the voices of our students and staff.

I hope you enjoy following our journey, together we will continue to build a vibrant, supportive and aspirational environment for every student in our care.

We were extremely pleased to celebrate some excellent achievements from our Year 11, 12 and 13 cohorts who sat examinations this Summer. Students have shown great determination and commitment to their studies. We are very happy to welcome a significant number of Year 11 students back into WG6, whilst humbled to see some inspiring destinations at Universities and Apprenticeships for Year 13.

Year 7 Biology students have been using microscopes to observe cells, in this case, onion. Students expertly prepared their onion samples before drawing their findings as a scientific diagram – Mrs Carwithen was very impressed with their enthusiasm and aptitude throughout!

Mrs Armellino’s Year 9 Food Preparation and Nutrition students cooked up a storm this morning showcasing excellent cooking skills preparing bechamel sauce, and meat ragu to create delicious lasagnes (I can vouch for how delicious they were!). Students prepped their dishes ready to be baked in the oven at home .. and enjoyed!
