Jim Dufton has been at WGSG since 2019, initially as Head of the Modern Foreign Languages Department before joining the Senior Team in 2022 and becoming Assistant Headteacher for Teaching and Learning in September 2024. Prior to becoming a teacher, he worked as a literary agent, representing UK-based and international authors. Jim first caught the teaching bug while working as an Assistente madrelingua in a secondary school in Naples, Italy on his year abroad at university. He is passionate about the power of education to close the disadvantage gap through outstanding teaching and learning and supporting teachers to reach their potential by means of evidence-informed professional development. Jim has a vision for academically rigorous classrooms, in which students develop a love for learning fostered by an engaging, knowledge-rich curriculum which equips them to become curious, thoughtful citizens capable of shaping the world around them. In his free time, Jim enjoys long distance running, travelling the world and going for walks with his sprocker spaniel, Jasper.
