We continue to recognise the hard work and dedication of our students in celebration assemblies and reward breakfasts, moments that highlighted the talent, resilience, and kindness that prevail across our school community. That spirit of generosity has extended beyond our walls, with students contributing to charitable endeavours from creating hampers for local families in need as well as supporting the Jamaica relief fund.

Learning has been enriched through school trips and inspiring visiting careers speakers, helping our students to broaden their horizons and prepare for the exciting futures ahead. On the sports courts, our netball teams have showcased skill, teamwork, and determination, bringing pride to the school with every fixture.

The festive season has also been marked by joyful community events; a wonderful PTFA Christmas market, the lively Year 7 & 8 Disco, dazzling performances in our drama talent show and Christmas concerts. And of course, Christmas jumper day and the warmth of our Christmas lunch, bringing everyone together in celebration.

This has been a term filled with achievement, generosity, and festive cheer. As headteacher, I am immensely proud of our students and grateful to our staff, families, and wider community for their support. Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas and a bright, hopeful New Year.

Our Year 7s, together with Year 7 at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys took part in a Carol Concert at St Michael & All Angels Church. Thank you to all students who gave readings or performed during the service including Oscar from WG6 who played the organ and our amazing Glee Club. It was especially lovely to share such a special festive occasion across our two schools. A special thank you to Sharon Stirman, the Children, Families and Youth Minister at St Michaels & All Angels who led the service – to find out about the clubs and activities offered at St Michael & All Angels Church, please click here What’s On – St. Michael & All Angels Church

Wilmington certainly has got talent!! The Years 10 & 11 Talent Show was an extravaganza of a show! From stand-up comedy, to dance, to group and solo singers – every act packed a festive punch of exhilarating fun! Congratulations to every student who braved the stage and wowed the audience (all 43 of you!!) A special thanks to our comperes Sharon O of Year 11 and Alicja and Eliana in Year 10 who kept the energy high, supporting every act .. and leading the cheers!

WG6 students take part in the STEM SMART undergraduate scheme from the University of Cambridge – the STEM SMART team have written to congratulate two students who have excelled, and been awarded certificates to recognise their achievements. Both have engaged in a 35 week programme answering questions (many of which) develop problem solving techniques far beyond the A Level requirements. Please join me in congratulating; Eduard F (Bronze) and Casra M (Gold)

European Day of Languages was marked across the school with students taking part in activities highlighting the importance of learning languages, exploring cultural diversity, and discovering fun facts about European languages. Celebrating the 200+ languages spoken across Europe and the value of being a global citizen!  Students took part in a global competition submitting some truly impressive work and although none of our students won a prize in the global competition (which had only three winning entries worldwide), they submitted some truly impressive work.

The MFL department awarded an R2 to every participant. In addition, they recognised excellence by selecting the three best entries and giving them a special prize.

And the winners are….

1st   place: Tayla T £10 –  Amazon voucher

2nd place:  Estelle B £5 – Amazon voucher

3rd place: Frances M B – French vocabulary book

Festive baking with Mrs Fuller and her Year 8 Food Preparation & Nutrition students! Students have been learning about shortening and blind-baking as they hand-made sweet shortcrust pastry .. and have produced wonderful festive mince pies (which it turns out they do like after all, very much in fact!!)

Year 12 A Level Design and Technology students have been getting festive and putting their CAD and painting skills to work making Christmas decorations. Designed using Fusion, printed on the school’s new 3D printers and finally hand-painted, it combines a range of skills and is now sparking joy in the Evan’s corridor.
