Blog week ending 26th January

We are delighted to launch our new school websites, not just for the Grammar Schools, but also for our Trust, Endeavour MAT and our third partner, Stone Lodge School.

Thanks go to all the students who willingly posed for the photographer back in November and especially to the Stone Lodge models!  We hope you enjoy navigating your way around the new style sites and you will now be able to see Twitter feeds directly on the start-up pages of each site.

Thank you Cleverbox for creating a corporate look.

Y9 Biology students dissected hearts in a practical lesson and were able to successfully identify the different heart structures and explain the blood flow.

The Medical Society has now been extended to include Y10 students, and this week saw the first meeting of the wider group.  Mr Beaumont led the meeting, inspiring students to extend their further reading of current scientific based news articles and medical debates.  Students were set a current news story to research with a view to discussing viewpoints and medical implication at the next meeting.

Year 8 Textiles students each planned and created tie dye squares as part of a project to design and make a bag.  The finished pieces were as colourful as they were unique!

Y10 Students had a practical lesson to further their studies on Polymers where they made slime!  During the activity students modified the properties of a polymer, comparing the viscosity of the different solutions with a view to understanding differences between low density and high density poly(ethane).

The PFA’s next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 1st February at 7pm in the school library. The meeting is open to everyone, members and non-members – all are welcome so please do come along.  For further details please contact;

Catherine Goodhind on 07956902400 (; or

Lin Purcell on 07818652401 (

We hope to see you there!

We would like to wish our Chair of Governors, Diane Connell, many happy returns on her special Birthday. At 70 years young, Mrs Connell tirelessly gives so much of her time and energy to the school and we are grateful that she shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, having renewed her minibus driving test only this week!

Best wishes

Sue Hunt
